Beetus

Filed under: News — Jon @ 12:14 pm

Dear Diary,

This is the year I finally get diabetes! I can feel it in my bones (or rather, I can’t feel it in my toes! Ha ha!)I am pretty excited, because I finally get to join the ranks of many of my many predicesors, the Diabetes Magnifique. The Choir Diabetic. The Insulin-Nots!

I looked at some website or other, and realized that I fit most of the requirements. History in the family? Check! Insatiable thirst? Check! Frequent urination? Check! Sleepiness? Check! Love of disgusting, fattening, sugary foods? Check and mate, my good friends!

You might be saying to yourself, “But Jon! Diabetes is no laughing matter!” Well I would throw up the flying V to that, dear readers, because I can laugh at anything I want. I’m a terrible person.

In other news, I’m working on a new short, which is coming along slowly but surely. This would be great, except it’s for a class, and “slowly” means “it was supposed to be turned in as a fine cut a week and a half ago and I’m still trying to get the basics of the edits down, and that’s not even starting to talk about the massive problems with the audio”. But it’s going pretty well otherwise. Camera angles and lighting are pretty good. Here’s a screenie.

So what else is on the horizon for your humble narrator, besides disease and failure? …not much, actually. Pretty much anything I do ends in disease or failure, and with finals week rapidly approaching, I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Cheers.

Sick

Filed under: News — Jon @ 9:58 am

So I’m sick. I stayed home from work today, and I’m strongly considering missing all of my classes as well, except for the one where attendance is mandatory.

That is all.

Project for one of my film classes. Totally disregarded what the project was supposed to be about, turning it in tomorrow- will probably fail the project and ultimately the class. Updates as updates come.

What Have I Been Up To?

Filed under: News — Jon @ 9:43 pm

I know you’ve all been asking yourselves what I’ve been up to recently, and I don’t blame you. I can understand how not having any updates on this site for quite some time would put some of you in a state of frenzy. I am, understandably, the most important person in many of your lives, and my inexplicable absence would surely frighten and shake the very foundations of your existence.

Not to fear, gentle people! I’m here. Jon’s here. Jon’s here. Shhh. Shhhh. I’m here now. Shhhh.

So, what have I been up to, besides being condescending to my reader(s)? Well, my new, awful, job and 18 credit workload has been taking up bunches and bunches of time. I’ve also been doing a lot of writing- and by “writing” I mean “trying to write and ending up just refreshing forums and gaming news websites until I fall asleep”. I have, however, started a great number of interesting things, including a television show about a mass murderer and his friends, a short film about a pair of hostages and a pair of murderers, a comic book about a homicidal, hellbent vigilante murderer, and a romantic comedy about vacationing in France.
So I’m branching out.

My computer’s broken right now (the sound is completely shot, which I hope to get fixed… eventually), so I won’t be able to do any more Backwards Comics for a while, but I am stockpiling ideas for when the time comes. I also can finally access some nice equipment at my school, so I’m looking forward to taking all their fancy schmancy stuff and playing around with it.

I’m also considering joining the MST3K club here at school. So.

Step 1. Read Snow Crash. Imagine the wonders and the infinite possibilities of the Metaverse. Browse Wikipedia and read up on persistent online worlds, read articles on the subject, technological discussions, forums. Pet rocks are just as useful as regular pets, when it comes to attacking the mailman.
